Maine (ly) by Woods

It was this May in the afternoon and was drizzling by then. The morning downpour finally decided to unwind. I could not get wait to get off the car and started to walk down the pathways of the Acadia National Park, Maine. Precisely speaking, at this point, the ocean was less visible and there were more trees. This forest-between-the-road led to the Otter cliff. The trees screeched around me. Trees that were not just green, but some had fascinating hues of russet and white.Image

The greens popped fresh after rains complementing the rich, bright russet.

Not just colors, but there was more to it. The shape of the trees effortlessly ignited vivid imagination.

Be it density of trees, or a simple solitary log, they were indeed mesmerizing.

The Pine Tree State sure offers unique geographical features, but I was specifically smitten by the pine cones, ferns, greens, wildflowers, and rich hues.

Far from responsibility, I was lost in the woods of Maine.

As we drove through the city of Boston to reach Nauset Light Beach : that was Massachusetts Day II

ImageDriving through the city of Boston and stopping by the way to capture this bridge view. It was our Day II at Boston. We checked out of the hotel at 10 45 am. Our destination for the day was Nauset   Light beach at Eastham, Massachusetts.

Walk -Roam-Cruise-Eat : that was Massachusetts Day1

I have always been a lover of cities and my husband never stops planning hill stations. Luck was my side and we headed towards Boston this time. It was an unexpectedly perfect Saturday morning (sans the rains off course )where clouds and ImageSun played peek-a-boo. We started at 8 45 am and reached Boston roughly at around 1 15 pm. Needless to say,we did worship our appetite with subs and shakes on our way. The Bay area was welcoming

ImageWe hurriedly queued up for the cruise. The cruise was special as it was taking us on a date with one of the cetaceans,i.e whale. But even before we reached the mid-ocean to get a glimpse of the whales, the various views from the cruise were a cynosure for our eyes. As we departed the bay area and headed little ahead, the view of Boston city across the shore was simply splendid.

ImageAs we headed further, the ocean played with various shades of whites, green and blue from her palette and mesmerized us every moment.

ImageAnd as we heard the announcement of our proximity towards the whales’ habitat, everyone on the deck started looking the celebrity of the day : the whales.

Image

And finally it the eager wait to catch a glimpse of the water mammal was over. Crew members began throwing whale food to allure them. 3,2,1….and then came the sound of whale splash over. Aah! what a delightful glimpse.

Image

Even more delightful was watching two of them taking a plunge

ImageAs we stood all excited watching the two, another splash diverted us the other side. By the time I look into the other side, it dived far displaying its V- shaped dorsal fin.

Image

As we proceeded back towards the shore, another wonderful sight caught my eye.

Image

It was time for a snack and we went down the deck food counter to grab a hot dog

ImageBack in shore, we decided to walk down the streets of Boston, i.e., our desire to roam freely and surfing the city was about to begin. The colorful public transports moved all over the streets of the city that had its own charm.

ImageImageAnd then, as we walked down the streets of Boston, we ate food that flattered our taste buds. An Elguapo burger sandwich and hand made fries from b.good followed by the pastries from Mike’s pastry.

ImageAfter roaming around the streets of Boston, we drove back to the hotel and had  sumptuous dinner at Romano’s Macaroni Grill. It was time to doze off and gear up for Day 2 at Massachusetts. After a warm shower we surely did get a good night’s sleep.
